About Our Grants and Scholarships
The Opera Guild of Southern Arizona (OGSA) started in Tucson in 1958. Our mission is to support education and training in opera, to sponsor and assist operatic programs and activities, and otherwise to cultivate a wider public interest in opera in Southern Arizona.
OGSA Scholarships
Each year we award scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students by University of Arizona voice faculty. The number and dollar amount of these scholarships varies from year to year as circumstances allow.
OGSA Grants
OGSA has funds to help University of Arizona opera students pursue opportunities complementary to their academic studies. The grants are intended to help cover additional costs opera students incur such as attending summer opera programs, travelling to auditions, and helping to cover costs of concerts and recitals.
Grant applications may be submitted to OGSA at any time. However, the application deadline for 2026 summer programs is May 1, 2026.
The Board of Directors will judge grant applications based on academic performance (including grade point average), vocal performance and activities, career ambitions and goals, strength of faculty endorsement, and quality of the application.
The Board of Directors may request an interview with the applicant, and grant recipients should be prepared to submit a summary of the program or activity attended.
